ece-kit-components‘Stay With Me Around Water’ Resource

Stay With Me Around Water is a new resource designed to be used within the early childhood settings and aimed at keeping our under 5s safer in, on and around water.

The resource has been provided to 200 early childhood centres throughout the Auckland region, supported by professional development and learning delivered by WaterSafe Auckland.

During recent workshops, teachers discussed the various play activities involving the use of water and the concept of ‘active supervision’ and how it related to their professional practice.

The resource contains four key components:

  1. Photo cards to develop discussions with children about their use of water in different contexts.
  2. Activities that can be used with children that use water or relate to water environments, through which water safety messages can be reinforced.
  3. Considerations for early childhood settings.
  4. Information for parents / whanau
