Cultural diversity is one of the principles of the New Zealand Curriculum (2007). It is essential that schools plan their aquatics schemes to be inclusive. Having an inclusive approach encourages the values of diversity and respect in students. It allows the exploration of our natural bodies of water as having recreational, cultural, commercial, subsistence and spiritual meanings at different times and for different groups.
