Safe Communities Foundation :
Safe Communities Foundation New Zealand works to support and enhance community safety initiatives. A safe community is a place that is attractive to live, work and visit. A safe community is a liveable community, where people can go about their daily activities in an environment without fear, risk of harm or injury. It creates an infrastructure in local communities to increase action by building local partnerships and collaborative relationships.
WaterSafe Auckland has partnered with the Foundation to ensure prevention of drowning is part of being a Safe Community and the Safe Schools accreditation process.
New Zealand currently has over 20 Safe Communities and the SCFNZ goal for a safe New Zealand is to increase this to 32 Safe Communities – and to increase the proportion of people living in an accredited Safe Community. Auckland North and Auckland West are both acredited Safe Communities supported by WaterSafe Auckland.
