IAP - The DVD

WaterSafe Auckland is proud to release the DVD, 'The Integrated Aquatic Programme: A holistic approach to aquatics education in schools for years 0-8'.

The average kiwi child is no stranger to the pool, beach, river or waterhole, yet while they know about the enjoyment of water they are less likely to be aware of the risks involved.

By educating our children about water safety we provide them with some of the most valuable lessons of life, lessons that may help keep them safe in, on and around water.

The IAP is a portal to an online collection of resources to help teachers and schools plan, resource and implement a comprehensive aquatics programme.

Irrespective of the gender, ethnicity, social or cultural background of the children, or the geographical location and available facilities of a school, the IAP provides access to realistic activities and learning experiences for children.

The DVD introduces teachers and planners to the IAP, suggesting ways that it may be used to develop the Vision, Key Competencies and Principles across the learning areas. It also highlights common concerns and ways to overcome barriers to participation in aquatics education.
