Rainbow System of Supervision

Rainbow System of Supervision

The aim of the Rainbow System is the safe supervision of students in water during periods of free swim and other water-based group activities.

The Rainbow System is an integral part of these guidelines and the safety management strategies that must be in place as the practical implementation of a school's WaterSafe Policy.

It overviews:

  • leadership of experienced personnel;
  • appropriate and sequential activities;
  • allocating and colour coding students;
  • recognising signs of distress;
  • student responsibility; and
  • the need for a planned and practiced emergency system
