WaterSafe Auckland recently held a Swim Schools colouring competition as part of the Swim Schools Water Safety Project.
Young children from all Auckland's swim schools were invited to enter the competition with the overall winner winning a term of free swimming lessons from their swim school. Wearing a lifejacket was the theme, and the children were asked to join the dots to help Matt and Emma be water safe before they went fishing.
Hundreds of entries were received from many different age groups, the youngest entrant being only 1 1/2 years old. Entries received were from: Aquanaut Swim School, Papakura; Hilton Brown Swim School, Albany; Massey Part Swimsation, Papakura. So much extra effort went into the entries, with many including ribbons, glitter, stickers, and lots of colour to make their pictures stand out.
The judges had such a hard task picking the winners, but unfortunately their can only be one overall, and WaterSafe Auckland is pleased to announce that Sophie Allen (6yrs) from Aquanaut Swim School in East Tamaki was the overall winner.
Congratulations to Sophie and all the children who entered the competition.
Sophie's picture is shown below, and to view the Highly Commended and Winning pictures from each age group just follow the links below to view the pdf presentation. Please note: variations in colouring materials used meant some colours did not reproduce well for the format of viewing.
