Teachers' Toolbox

Located in the Toolbox is  a wide range of guides, fact sheets, task sheets and other resources to help you gain the necesary background knowledge when teaching aquatics.

Teacher Guides
These are short but succinct and written in every day language for teachers to support their aquatic education lessons, both in the pool and the classroom. Not only do they introduce aquatic language, they support the New Zealand Curriculum 2007, especially the Health & Physical Education Learning Area.

The Guides cover a wide range of topics and many are written to enhance enquiry learning across the Curriculum. For ease of use they are in PDF format and organised in the following topic areas:

  • Aquatic Environments
  • Aquatic Hazards
  • Aquatic Language
  • Aquatic Pedagogy
  • Cultural Diversity
  • Pool Activities

Student Aquatic Task Sheets
These cover a range of reading ages. On the back of each worksheet there is a list of related resources. The worksheets can be used to guide teaching and learning.
