Beach Education is a unique practical and theoretical based approach to teaching children how to enjoy the beach environment safely and to introduce them to Surf Life Saving.
It is designed specifically for Years 0 – 8 students with the primary objective to deliver students “A safe, fun and educational day at the beach”.
Beach Education is a user-friendly programme that ensures delivery is consistent in style, content and messages. It has evolved over a number of years through a process of regular internal and external review, and provides learning opportunities that allow students to learn and develop essential skills as described in The New Zealand Curriculum Framework.
Surf Life Saving New Zealand is committed to providing a safe environment for all its activities. Beach Education’s up to date and relevant risk management procedures ensure a safe physical and emotional environment for all participants. All instructors are highly qualified and experienced Surf Lifeguards.

Surf Education courses are affordable and provide children with lifelong skills in and around New Zealand’s favourite playground – the beach.
Courses are available at the beach ‘Beach Ed’ and in the classroom ‘Surf to School’.
