Lifejackets For Schools
Lifejackets for schools
We have lifejackets available free of charge, to compliment your aquatic education programme. Schools can borrow up to 30 lifejackets for two weeks. There are a variety of sizes available suitable for early childhood centres, and primary, intermediate and secondary. They can be collected and dropped off at our office in Westhaven, the Sport Waitakere Hub or couriered at the school’s expense. If you only need a few lifejackets, we have a number of other DPA Lifejacket Hubs around Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland that you can visit.
To request lifejackets, head to the DPA Lifejacket Hub page using the button below and complete the request form.
Please Note:
- The lifejackets are in high demand and subject to availability – Please ensure you submit your request well in advance.
- All lifejackets are approved to NZ Standards.
- For requests of over 15 lifejackets, you can collect from our office in Westhaven or the DPA Lifejacket Hub at Sport Waitakere
How the Lifejacket Hubs have benefitted schools
We used the lifejackets to:
- Familiarise students with lifejackets
- Show students how to fit them correctly
- Teach students how lifejackets work as flotation devices by using them with students in the school pool
- Give students practical experience of different ways to group for warmth if they were stranded at sea
- Practice swimming / moving in the water in ways that conserve energy
- Make links between our aquatic education programme and how to be water safe in different environments (river / sea /lakes)
